Have You Heard The Dodgers Are In Australia?

That’s a rhetorical question. Everybody knows the Dodgers are in Australia… (like, actually there… not pretend there like the Padres) and it’s all the rage in baseball and in social media. The @Dodgers twitter feed has been posting tons of stereotypical Aussie stuff. There is one Vine and three photos that really caught my eye. The Vine…

Of course, Puig and his bat flips… we must capture him doing this with a cricket bat.

Vin Scully holding a koala… awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! You cannot stop Vin Scully, you can only hope to contain him. Next photo…

Clayton Kershaw and his wife with a baby kangaroo… awwwwwwwwwwwwww! It’s Kershaw’s birthday too. Adorable. Next photo…

Gah!!!! WHAT THE HELL? Why, Adrian Gonzalez? Why?

Here’s why this is so great. The Dodgers PR folks are milking this trip for all it’s worth. “G’day mate! Let’s do every stereotypical Australian thing we can think of! Stock all the rooms with Foster’s and put another shrimp on the barbie! Let’s get Puig to flip a cricket bat. Get Vin with a koala… get Kershaw with a baby kangaroo. What else can we do? Hmmm…. I know, let’s find some old fat guys wearing nothing but speedos and swim caps on the beach and get A-Gon in there.

Well played, Dodgers. Fun fact: I became good buddies with an Australian who came over to San Diego for college. Said he’d never heard of a Foster’s until he got here. True story.
