The Padres New Spring Training Facility

This is an awesome video. Great behind the scenes look at the new Peoria facilities. That’s Todd Stephenson giving the tour. He’s Assistant to Peoria Operations with the Padres. With Todd is Jesse Agler, the Padres new media corespondent. I don’t really know his official title, but I think this is kind of a ‘first-look’ for Padres fans at the guy that kinda-sorta replaced the beloved Andy Masur. I was interested to see Jesse just as much as I was interested in the facility. He does well on camera. When he said, “That’s good milk… that’s GREAT milk… ice cold.” – I laughed. He’s one of the guys that Mike Dee brought over from the Dolphins. When asked about Jesse’s role with the Padres, here’s what Wayne Partello, the Padres’ new Chief Marketing Officer, said in an interview with the clowns over at Padres Public:

Partello: Jesse will be the daily host of a new interactive show as well as filling in on play-by-play. In addition to his hosting duties, Agler will join the Padres front office next week as director of the newly created content department, a role in which he will oversee all club digital and social operations, including the integration of content for padres.com and Padres social media accounts. He spent the past four seasons in Miami, as the pregame, halftime and postgame host on the Dolphins Radio network. Agler also hosted The Finsiders, the Dolphins’ daily multimedia talk show airing on radio, dolphins.com and FOX Sports Florida. A graduate of the University of Miami, Agler’s first job was calling baseball games for the Elkhart (KS) Dusters of the Jayhawk League. He has also served as fill-in play-by-play announcer and pregame and postgame radio host for the then-Florida Marlins.

So there ya have it. The facility seems amazing. Jesse seems like a cool dude. I’m looking forward to checking out Peoria and seeing what other cool stuff Jesse is gonna do with this “new interactive show”. I mean, that’s what I do, I interact. Game on.
