I need a Lobshots logo. We’ve got the banner on top of the site, which has been there since day one, but it’s not really a logo. My MS Paint skills translate well to the blog, but not so much to t-shirts, posters, ads, etc. If you don’t know: The origin of the term “lobster” is here. Up top, I used MS Paint to re-create the London Lobster that Caster originally made. I do love it. The ‘stache, the top hat, the giant claws… but is it a sustainable logo? I’m such a logo
whore critic, that I’m scared to make one for myself because I’ll be so critical of it. Example: I love watches. I love them so much that I can’t afford any of the watches I want so I just don’t wear one. Is that not the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard? Yes, it is. But it’s that line of thinking that’s kept me from a real logo all this time…
There’s the Jim Carrey Dumb and Dumber giant foam cowboy hat that I made into a logo. I made a whopping three t-shirts or so, and have had some buying interest there, so maybe I’ll make some to sell? I’m torn about everything. I feel like a chick. That t-shirt logo did look pretty good on a poster though.
That’s my wife and me at the Belly Up Tavern… first Lobshots poster. I was proud. (Take a look at our demon eyes. The original photo had crazy red-eye glare, so I used the ole iPhone 5 red-eye reduction tool. Makes the photo look worse, I think. It even gave Jim Carrey an extra eye ball under his right eyebrow. See that?)
Anyway, that poster now rests comfortably on the wall in my garage… next to some solar panel stuff and a few Padres collectibles.
In bold. SHOULD I HAVE A LOGO CONTEST? Would any of your artsy-fartsy clever kids enter? I can’t make one myself, but I could give away some prizes to whoever wins the contest. Thoughts?
