Has “Fox Sports San Diego” Lost Their Minds? Yes.

San Diego – FOX Sports San Diego today announced a special Padres spring training telecast to take place Wednesday, March 13 at 1:00 PST in which five local San Diego Padres bloggers will take over select segments of the Padres vs. Angels live broadcast.

“The Bloggers Take Over” segments will occur in the fifth and seventh innings of the broadcast, giving viewers a fan’s perspective of the game, as well providing discussion on topics relating to the team and its local San Diego fan base. Moderated by FOX Sports San Diego’s new social media reporter, Megan Olivi, the panel of five consists of local San Diego writers whose blogs mainly focus on the San Diego Padres. Four of the bloggers recently combined to create a collective blog called Padres Public.

Following are the bloggers participating in “The Bloggers Take Over”.

  • Brady Phelps, Lobshots
  • Rick Romero, RJ’s Fro – Padres Public
  • David Rose, Vocal Minority – Padres Public
  • Geoff Young, Duck Snorts – Padres Public
  • Mike Metzger, Padres Trail – Padres Public

“The blogging community is substantial in San Diego and in many ways represents the fans’ voice,” said Jeff Byle, Executive Producer, FOX Sports San Diego. “Creating a unique forum for their voice to be heard is exciting to us and should be entertaining for our audience.”

“The Bloggers Take Over” is the latest in a series of bold social media initiatives from the network. In addition to hiring Olivi as social media reporter and Padres POV host, FOX Sports San Diego plans to continue its popular “Social Media Tuesdays” and integration of FOX’s Game Connect platform into Padres telecasts in 2013.

FOX Sports San Diego’s Padres vs. Angels spring training broadcast on Wednesday, March 13 will be available live locally at 1:00 PST on AT&T U-verse, Cox and DIRECTV. For a link to this information, please click here.

So this is really happening. I know, it’s crazy. The fine folks over at Fox Sports San Diego have officially lost their minds. They are allowing me, along with a few guys from Padres Public, to literally take over the TV broadcast for Wednesday’s game against the Angels. Yes, you read that correctly. Things are gonna get weird, lobsters. I’m friggin’ pumped.

There are two photos because my computer is freaking out. One upside down, one right side up. I think? I hope? The one that we’re actually standing up has me on the left, and RJ’s Fro from Padres Public on the right at FSSD. Stallions.
