Mike McCoy To Be Named Chargers Head Coach Today

So, the all knowing sources are saying that the Bolts are gonna hire Mike McCoy today…

Here’s what the Chargers had to say about his interview on Monday…

Chargers.com – The head coach search continued at Chargers Park on Monday as the team interviewed Denver Broncos Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy.

“The Chargers have great tradition and great people,” he said. “The great thing is it’s a family run business.  I’m big into family.  There’s an open door policy for everyone to feel welcome and open to come enjoy the environment that we’re all in this together.”

McCoy is also a fan of Qualcomm Stadium and the home field advantage the fans give the Chargers.

“It’s a great place to play,” he said. “There’s a lot of energy and a lot of excitement.  It’s a great atmosphere on game day.”

Under McCoy’s guidance, the Broncos had one of the elite offenses in the NFL this year.  They ranked second in the league in total points with 481, fourth in total yards per game with 397.9 and were fifth in passing with 283.4 ypg.

McCoy’s coaching career started in 2000 as an offensive assistant with the Carolina Panthers.  He served multiple roles during his tenure, including wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. He left following the 2008 season to become the Broncos offensive coordinator.

He won a playoff game with Tim Tebow… that is all you need know. Hire that man.
