Happy 42nd Birthday Ken Griffey, Jr.

The Kid. I feel like that’s the last great baseball card. The ’89 Upper Deck rookie card. After that card, the industry went down hill. For shame… either way, happy birthday to one of the greatest ever. A travesty that injuries kept him from shattering every record ever. Here’s my favorite poster of him… Costacos Brothers, of course.

ah yes, the griffey upper deck rookie..my greatest accomplishment as a 9 yr old was getting that card in a pack from the local card shop..I still remember that day, it was the 3rd card in the pack behind a greg jeffries and john kruk card..later that baseball season, my dad took me to a card show in portland, or and we waited in line for 3 hours to get it signed by a young junior griffey…I still have the card in a thick plastic holder..one of my treasured possessions from my childhood, along with a barry sanders rookie card..
