Let’s Play “FIND PHILIP RIVERS” on this “Top NFL QB” List

The fine folks over at Business Insider have created their own little measuring system for quarterbacks. Through 7 weeks, here’s what they come up with using these parameters:

By averaging three very different statistical metrics — traditional QB rating, ESPN’s Total QBR, and Football Outsiders’ DYAR— we came up with our own ranking of the best 15 QBs in the league through the first seven weeks.

I think Chargers fans will really, really love the names in front of Philip Rivers.

1. Peyton Manning – 2.33

2. Aaron Rodgers – 3.00

3. Tom Brady – 3.66

4. Eli Manning – 5.00

T5. Matt Ryan – 5.33

T5. Ben Roethlisberger – 5.33

7. Drew Brees – 7.00

8. Robert Griffin III – 7.33

9. Matt Schaub – 9.33

10. Alex Smith – 10.66

11. Tony Romo – 14.33

T12. Jake Locker – 14.66

T12. Christian Ponder – 14.66

14. Matthew Stafford – 16.33

T15. Andrew Luck – 16.66

T15. Carson Palmer – 16.66

17. Andy Dalton — 17.33

18. Joe Flacco — 18.00

19. Ryan Fitzpatrick — 19.00

20. Josh Freeman — 19.33

21. Ryan Tannehill — 19.66

22. Sam Bradford — 20.66

23. Mike Vick — 22.66

T24. Jay Cutler — 24.33

T24. Cam Newton — 24.33

26. Russell Wilson — 24.66

T27. Kevin Kolb — 25.00

T27. Phillip Rivers — 25.00

29. Blaine Gabbert — 28.66

30. Mark Sanchez — 29.00

31. Matt Cassell — 29.33

32. Brandon Weeden — 31.0

That’s right, Chargers fans… there are only four quarterbacks worse than Philip Rivers. That’s impressive stuff. After the Broncos MNF performance, I’m shocked he’s not number 32. That said, I’d still take him as my QB over 25 other QBs… at least.
