Former Charger Tommie Harris Got Arrested for Doing Something We’ve All Done…Minus the Assault Part

Chicago Trib- Former Chicago Bear Tommie Harris was arrested in Wrigleyville overnight and charged with indecent exposure and threatening a police officer, officials said. Harris was arrested in the 1000 block of West Eddy Street shortly before midnight, according to Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan. He was charged with misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, urinating in public and simple assault. The simple assault charge was for threatening an officer, Sullivan said.

Harris, a former No. 1 draft pick of the Bears in 2004 out of Oklahoma, was a three-time Pro Bowl performer and a force in the middle of the defensive line for the 2006 Bears team that reached Super Bowl XLI. Slowed by knee and hamstring problems, he was released by the Bears in February 2011. Harris has been out of football since being let go by the San Diego Chargers after the 2011 season. Harris played in 13 games for the Chargers last season and had three sacks.

This is the second national story I’ve seen today for somebody being arrested for something I’ve done. There’s a time and a place for blasting athletes/celebrities for getting arrested. Peeing in public, although not smart, is not one of those things. If you haven’t peed in public… you’re not living life. If you get caught, however, try not to resist arrest like an idiot and make things worse. I’ve found heard that the ole “it was my pants or the ground, officer… I’m really sorry and it will never happen again. curse this peanut bladder!” argument works pretty well.
