You kidding me with this kid? Even though Hundley has really sucked this year, I was bummed he got sent down to the minors because I think he’s a great guy. All those mushy feelings for the Padres backstop got chucked out the window when this kid Grandal came to the plate. First two MLB hits were jacks. No joke. Grandal hopped into the history books, becoming the first player ever to homer from each side of the plate for his first two career hits, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Switch hitting stallion. Video of the homers here. He took to twitter to thank his fans. Classy move.
So far, I love everything about this kid. Best part? The silent treatment from the Padres dugout after his first MLB hit/HR… he handles it perfectly.
“I will high-five MYSELF, bitches!” Love it. Grandal is now my new favorite Padre. Sorry Norf. I said this on twitter over the weekend… but I legitimately think that if MLB is cool letting Huston Street be the Padres representative in the All-Star… then it should’ve been Grandal. If their standards suck that bad… give this kid a nod. Finally gave Padres fans something positive to talk about. I do actually feel bad for Chase Headley… who I thought would be the choice, because this year was probably his only shot at being an All-Star. Unless, of course, he stays with the Padres and decides to become the team’s closer.
