Padres: The Brown is Back!

Well, for a game it’s back… Tom Garfinkel warmed the hearts of Padres fans when he tweeted out “The brown is back” with this photo of Yonder Alonso and Jesus Guzman’s Padres 1978 throwbacks. They will be wearing these uniforms this coming Friday against the Angels for 70′s Night. It’s a nice shot of the 1978 All-Star Game patch that was in San Diego too. You know the one.

Here’s a photo of Gaylord Perry rocking the patch on in a 1979 Topps baseball card.

Man, he looks old…. and he kept pitching until 1983. It’s not the first time the Padres have worn their 1978 uniforms. For example, here they are against the Mariners in 2008.
