Just a 20 Foot, 2,000lb Great White Shark Caught in Mexico

abc – Two fisherman in Mexico netted a monstrous catch quite unexpectedly this week: a 2,000 pound great white shark.

The enormous shark, which measured almost 20 feet in length, was caught up in a net cast by commercial fishermen in the Sea of Cortez on Sunday, according to Pisces Sportfishing, a website based in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The shark was already dead when the men found it, but the fisherman, identified only as Guadalupe and Baltazar, were still overwhelmed by it.

“We were amazed and immediately realized that we had a huge, dead, great white shark, and then we thought what are we going to do?” Guadalupe told Pisces Sportfishing’s Tracy Ehrenberg.

The fishing boat had to be towed to shore with the extra weight, and more than 50 bystanders helped the men drag the dead shark onto the docks.

Pisces Sportfishing reported that the shark “fed the whole town.”

My train of thought when I read this… “woah! huge shark! how in the eff did these two dudes catch this monster with a net?! is it a giant special needs shark? oh, it was dead.” That’s some amazing fisherman luck right there. Dragging for tuna…boom…we caught Jaws. Took 50 people to drag it in once a friggin’ tug boat dragged ‘em to shore.

Oh, if you’re wondering how big “Jaws” was… 25 feet and 6,000 pounds, according to 4 seconds of my time spent googling it. That’s some serious girth when only 5 extra feet add another 4,000 pounds. Oh, and for the record, that’s not Terry.

    Analogy Time!!!
Mexico Shark (20ft/2000lbs) is to Jaws (25ft/6000lb) as
    a. Mexican is to Spanish
    b. Reality is to fiction
    c. Dead animal is to Animatronic animal
    d. BP’s college physique (see UCSD pic) is to [drumroll] his current girth

    *UPDATE*
Everyone in that town has died from eating a huge dead fish that has been floating around in the ocean.

If it was 20you feet long it had to weigh over 4000 pounds. A 14 foot great white weighs over 2000. Don’t know where they got their weight.
