Soldier Surprises Parents at Bruins Game

I am sucker for this stuff.   You have to be or it’s official… you have no heart.  I love seeing soldiers come back from deployment and surprising their kids at school or on their birthday, it’s freaking awesome.  But this one may have one up’d them all for me.  From Saturday’s Boston Bruins game by The Huffington Post…

Surprises don’t get much better than this.

Prior to the start of the Boston Bruins 6-2 victory over the Sabres on Saturday, the parents of First Lt. Charles Jacobs were given the honor of dropping the ceremonial first puck. By itself, this was a touching gesture by the Bruins so close to Veterans Day, but it became a memory of a lifetime for the Jacobs family when Charles came onto to the ice to present the puck to his unsuspecting parents.

“I just thought we were out there to be supporting family members, we didn’t think he’d be showing up. Didn’t think about it,” said Darron Jacobs, Charles’ father. “The listened to the announcement and it said they had someone to help us drop the puck… I don’t know what to say, it’s just [makes us] very happy.”

Great stuff.  Just great.  Oh, and one other thing.  I know he’s on skates but the Bruins Zdeno Chara is a MONSTER.  All 6’20” of him.  Which reminds me, athletes can be really really tall.
