Feel Good Freshness: After 72 Years of Marriage, Couple Dies Holding Hands

I know it’s sounds a bit weird to have a Feel Good Freshness story on a death, but if you give it some thought, it’s not really. Please go read the story about a couple of high school sweethearts that were married for 72 years, only to die 1 hour apart from one another while holding hands in the ICU. He stop breathing first, but the heart monitor was still picking up a reading… “It was really strange, they were holding hands, and dad stopped breathing but I couldn’t figure out what was going on because the heart monitor was still going,” said Dennis Yeager. “But we were like, he isn’t breathing. How does he still have a heart beat? The nurse checked and said that’s because they were holding hands and it’s going through them. Her heart was beating through him and picking it up.” One hour later, she stopped breathing too. Chills.

Surrounded by family, holding hands with the one you love, dying together after living over 90 years. It’s just amazing. Beautiful, really. My eyes welled up reading it. 72 years together. So cool. Party in heaven, hopefully. Cheers to many more couple like you, Gordon and Norma Yeager.
