The Famous Postseason Squirrel

I’m sure you’ve seen the highlights by now. I said it last night, and I’ll say it again… that squirrel is my favorite part of the playoffs so far. So awesome. Outta nowhere just sprinting through the batter’s box mid pitch.

Look at that extension! So awesome. Best animal interaction on a baseball field since Randy Johnson exploded that bird mid-flight with a fastball back in 2001.

How’s that for timing? *poof* gone.

All kidding aside. Love that a “nobody”… David Freese, blasted a 2 run HR and 2 run double to take this Cardinals-Phillies series to a game 5. Just fantastic. Brewers-Dbacks going to a game 5 too, same with Yankees-Tigers. Out of a potential 20 games the Divisional Series could have offered fans… we got 19. Sweet.

As for our squirrel friend, as far as we know, he’s fine. I didn’t see the post-game interview but Caster told me about it, and Phillies manager Charlie Manuel had this to say, “There’s not too much I can do about a squirrel running across the field. I don’t know what I can do about that. Of course, being from the South, and being a squirrel hunter, if I had a gun I might have done something. I’m a pretty good shot…” Charlie Manuel, FTW.
