Uncle Daddy. I have a giant collective man-crush on these dudes. Their music will blow your mind. That headline: The Most Interesting Band in the World… it’s not hyperbole. I could’ve even said, “The Best Band on the Planet That You’ve Never Heard Of…” I’d put these guys up against anybody. They’re that amazing. Tomorrow night, Oct. 6th, they are playing at The Roxy on Sunset in West Hollywood. I’m making the trip from San Diego. So should you.
Get all the details on their Facebook page here. Nobody any good has ever really played The Roxy though. Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Frank Zappa, Neil Young, Red Hot Chili Peppers, NOFX, Genesis, Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, Jane’s Addiction and Bruce Springsteen…to name a few. Someday soon, Uncle Daddy will be on that list of all-time greats. Take a look-see at this song, featuring Sens Musiq, which will be on their new album.
I’m telling you. I’ve never heard them on the radio, never seen them on MTV, VH1 or an awards show, and the more I listen to their stuff…the more I don’t know how that’s possible. They will be legitimate superstars. Here are the members of Uncle Daddy:
TJ Stafford: lead vocals/guitars
Noah Needleman: lead guitars/vocals
Andrew Jed: mandolin/banjo/dobro
Robbie Anderson: violin
Jacob Szekely: cello
Christopher Allis: drums
I’ve seen them in concert half a dozen times. Aside from myself singing in the shower, I’ve never heard anybody that much ‘live’. These dudes are legit, and soon, they are gonna be huge, and you’re gonna say this to your buddies: “Remember when we’d never even heard of Uncle Daddy, and then our boy BP dropped knowledge on the world and blew everyone’s mind, and now Uncle Daddy is a big as U2? Crazy!” Yeah, that’s a direct quote from you…in the future. That’s how this will play out. I was trying to figure out the best way to describe them, and I couldn’t come up with a better description than a fan of theirs, “They sound like watching Mumford & Sons play the Black Keys while Led Zeppelin has sex on Johnny Cash’s pool table.” I don’t even know what that means, but I want more.
